I always get that same error with VLC too. Recently VLC even started to crash during startup on my Mac Pro. No crashes on my PPC machine though. It never seems to work right with FLV and AVI files. I always get the "seeking to far' errors. Does Perian interfere with iMovie? I had to uninstall DIVX because it caused iMovie to freeze.
